"Batman: The Gotham Contract" - A Fanmade Audio Series
Animevoiceovers for Barbara Gordon / Batgirl
In this story, Barbara has given up her identity of Batgirl after years of Batman's horrible treatment of his team. After Jason's death, Barbara became concerned for Bruce's well-being, and the team began to notice how horribly he treated himself. After a while of dealing with Bruce's increased aggression and deplorable actions, Barbara told Dick Grayson that she was leaving the team, and Dick agreed to do the same. After this, Barbara spent a couple years working with Nightwing to help her forget Batman, but the reports of his actions were sending her to a boiling point. She decided to no longer be Batgirl and instead began to focus on her school work. She now holds degrees in Psychology and Forensics, among a few minor degrees. She now helps the GCPD in their forensics lab. Grayson is trying to get back into her life, but Barbara isn't sure if she can take the relationship right now. She is really trying to move on from the Bat-Family, but a small part of her wants back in. Ultimately, if she were to rejoin the Bat-Family again, she'd have to be certain that Bruce had changed for the better. She's not so easy to trust as Dick tends to be. She has her own life, but is open to returning if things change.
Again, no proxy for live-action, so anything goes with this one. She's a little younger than Dick, 28 or 29 years old.
Barbara is usually more focused, but her wit and charm isn't really present nowadays. If Barbara was ever to be Batgirl again, she'd tend to be peppy and curious under the cowl. These days, as Barbara, she is more subdued... and therefore a little bored.
(Barbara/Affirmation) It's not that easy, Dick Grayson. I can't take your word for his. If he wants to talk to me, he has to come himself. I came to him with my problems; it's time he returned the favor.
(Barbara/Gentle honesty) I can't say I hate him. Honestly, I... I don't. But whenever I see him on the news, even now, I just... I feel like it's fake. I've lived thinking he was a monster for years. To see him save Gotham from a doomsday monster? Save Russia from aliens? It feels like a completely different person.
(Batgirl/Cocky) Hope you're glad I'm here. This is where things get exciting!
