We love our pets.

Over two thirds of American households own a pet. And last year, we spent over $63 billion dollars on our furry family members.

We treat our pets like family, except when it comes to air travel.

In 2016, 24 animals died and 15 were injured on flights in the United States alone.

Your pets deserve better and American Airlines is leading the charge.

With Pet Air, American Airlines has created safe, easy air travel for both you and your furry family member. A portion of our fleet is outfitted with an in cabin-kennel, keeping your pets out of cargo storage and closer to you.

When boarding, passengers will walk their pet to the rear of the plane, find their designated crate based on animal and size, and attach their animal’s harness to the built in leash.

Each crate features a small dish for food and water and a small curtain to help your furry friend fall asleep.

Pet Air flights are currently operating in Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Newark, and New York City. The program will expand to more cities October 2018.
