Generally dismissive and quick witted, Verne used to be an mercenary for hire, but only cared about the pay, so he left one day to wander the world and find out more about himself in the process. He met Alise and the team while in the middle of battle, and was enamored towards Alise's ability to wield her blade, which is the only reason why he sticks around.

The one thing that really vexes me about all is that why can't we go and ask Octavio to make a rift towards Jodd? Or maybe Octavio and Jodd are the same person? No, no...that's too cliche...but it's a non-zero... so I guess we'll never know.
