Being over a thousand years old is a rarity for Nathaniel's kind but after finding someone who sees him for more than what he is after all these years, he has to hide his truly evil colors lest he be found out by those who aren't worth the knowledge of who he is. Though his charm can seem over the top and almost sickening, it is a facade he needs to maintain in order to accomplish his goal.
