Story: After waking up from a coma, Oliver finds himself unable to recall the last five years of his life, where he’s been and what led to his return home, but a part of him knows all that’s left is pain when he tries to recollect the memories of said years.

Left with PTSD, trauma, depression, anxiety and mild amnesia, will he be able to battle the darkness of his own past and face a destiny he cannot foresee?

Character age: 25

Description: he’s attractive, a real ex billionaire playboy, charming but due to his trauma he’s quieter, more introspective, reflective and self destructive.

Relations: his sisters mean the world to him and is the only people whom he sees light in after waking up.

Accent: This version of Oliver has a nod to his inspiration of Robin hoode (an apparant ancestor in the green arrow lore) and as such it is Open to London based British actors, and varying degrees of UK actors from that region or if none of you want to play Oliver, those from the states are also welcome to voice him in the more traditional sense of the role's history, when voicing Oliver think of actors such as Kin Shriner or Stephen Amell. Please note Oliver is 25 years old with the mentality, experience and pain of someone twenty years older than he is. He’s seen a lot and faced a lot too.

Audition notes: you’ll be reading a single monologue for your audition, two of the three options are not from the script and I would appreciate it if you ONLY READ ONE of these choices. if cast you will meet with your director for further information and discussion about the character, the script and how you are to go about recording.

As for the audition: slate your name “I.e” record yourself saying “My name is James (insert your name here) and I am reading for Oliver Queen. Please read the monologue verbatim, ABC style, and don’t improvise.

Failure to follow through with the instructions will result in your audition being passed over.

Note: on the must be able to carry a tune, while there is no real singing in this project, Oliver is a character known for a humorously bad taste in music according to the characters around him. At points in the story he will “badly” sing parts of songs from the 80’s and 90’s as they relate to relationships and moments in his life. You don’t need to be a trained singer to have fun with this part of the character.

Please be aware you may be the sole narrator of this project if things don’t go according to plan.

The sides they read from:
  • Option 1: I was gonna run last night. I was gonna run and keep right on running. Clear to the Iowa border. I drove all night with the windows open. The old man’s two bucks flapping right on the seat beside me. It never stopped raining the whole time. Never stopped once. I could see myself in the windshield. My face. My eyes. I studied my face. Studied everything about it as though I was looking at another man. As though I could see his whole race behind him. Like a mummy’s face. I saw him dead and alive at the same time. In the same breath. In the windshield I watched him breathe as though he was frozen in time and every breath marked him. Marked him forever without him knowing. And then his face changed. His face became his father’s face. Same bones. Same eyes. Same nose. Same breath. And his father’s face changed to his grandfather’s face. And it went on like that. Changing. Clear on back to faces I’d never seen before but still recognized. Still recognized the bones underneath. Same eyes. Same mouth. Same breath. I followed my family clear into Iowa. Every last one. Straight into the corn belt and further. Straight back as far as they’d take me. Then it all dissolved. Everything dissolved. Just like that.

  • Option 2: The day I went missing... was the day I died. Five years in hell forged me into a weapon, which I use to honor a vow I made to my father who sacrificed his life for mine. In his final moments he told me the truth: that our family's wealth had been built on the suffering of others, that he failed our city, and that it was up to me to save it, and right his wrongs. But to do that without endangering the people closest to me, I had to be someone else. I had to be... something else."

  • Option 3: At last… I can breathe… my own personal Crisis averted, I turn my gaze towards the stained glass windows of the old Starling city church and watch as the colors dance about, the sun shines through it refracting the beauty as one does to a kaleidoscope. Shining like a star I see… Hello, by way of its befitting name, my Starling city, I’ve only been home a week and yet you managed to make me feel panic and pain… I’m out of place in your glittering gritty upper world and don’t wish to explore the underbelly of bullshit. Your proverbial heart beats with the corruption that flows through the center of the darkest street corners where not even angels wish to tread, and I’m not about to play Robin Hood to your own self centered narcissistic cult of money grubbing bastards who prey on the innocent and steal the hearts of those less fortunate than you. To be as liberal as they come, I went to university for more than that. …Not that I lasted long at said university.
