Expressionists 3d Animated Series
Javiere Inniss for Composer/Musician
Composer/Musician
Composer / Music
The Composer will be responsible for developing the original musical identity of The Expressionists and creating music that supports the tone, characters, action, and emotional direction of the series.
This role will work across both large cinematic sequences and quieter character moments. The goal is to create a recognizable soundtrack that feels specific to The Expressionists rather than relying on generic background music.
Responsibilities may include:
Composing original music for episodes, trailers, promotional material, and other project needs
Developing recurring themes and motifs for major characters, groups, locations, and story elements
Scoring dialogue scenes, emotional scenes, suspense, action, and large-scale combat
Creating music that supports pacing without overwhelming dialogue or sound design
Developing musical identities for recurring concepts such as Helix, Aether, Breaking, and major character arcs
Producing variations of existing themes for different emotional or narrative contexts
Creating transitions, stingers, tension cues, and shorter musical pieces when needed
Working from scripts, scene descriptions, animatics, rough cuts, or completed footage
Timing music to picture and adjusting compositions to fit scene pacing
Revising tracks based on feedback from the Creator/Showrunner
Delivering organized final mixes, stems, and project files where required
Maintaining a consistent musical style and sound across episodes
Working with the Sound Designer and Audio Mixing / Mastering team to make sure music integrates properly with dialogue and effects
Helping build and maintain a reusable library of themes and musical material for the series
The Expressionists will move between character-driven drama, mystery, darker emotional material, humor, suspense, and large-scale action, so the soundtrack should be capable of shifting between these tones while still feeling like part of the same series.
Character themes should be able to grow and change alongside the characters themselves. A theme introduced early in the series may return later in a different form as relationships, conflicts, and character arcs develop.
Major concepts and organizations may also receive their own recurring musical language so that the audience begins to associate certain sounds, instruments, or motifs with specific parts of the world.
We are especially interested in composers who are comfortable with cinematic scoring and thematic development.
Applicants do not need access to a live orchestra. High-quality virtual instruments, synthesized elements, electronic production, hybrid scoring, and other approaches are welcome as long as the final result fits the series.
Applicants should have experience or familiarity with:
Film or animation scoring
Cinematic composition
Character themes and leitmotifs
Action music
Emotional scoring
Suspense and tension
Music arrangement
Orchestration
MIDI programming
Virtual instruments
Music production
Mixing music
Scoring to picture
Delivering stems and alternate mixes
Experience with FL Studio, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Cubase, Reaper, Studio One, Pro Tools, or similar music production software is welcome.
Applicants should provide a portfolio, demo reel, or examples of previous compositions. Cinematic tracks, character themes, action music, emotional pieces, game or animation scores, and scoring-to-picture examples are especially useful.
This role will work closely with the Creator/Showrunner, Sound Designer / Foley Artist, Audio Mixing / Mastering team, and other members of the production team.
CompensationThe Composer / Music Department is allocated 2% of total distributable project revenue.
This percentage operates as a shared role pool and will be divided among the contracted composers or music contributors according to the terms established in their individual agreements.
Individual percentages will depend on department staffing, workload, and production responsibilities.
All selected contributors will be required to sign a written agreement before beginning official production work.
