MC is the narrator of Doki Doki Literature Club. At the start of the game, he is pressured into joining the club by his childhood friend Sayori, soon beginning to enjoy the company of its members. MC is gentle and caring, expressing interest in all four of the girls. Although well-liked by the other characters, he refers to himself as a loser, as before the literature club he was somewhat of a social recluse.
[Exasperated] I... I'm defenseless against these girls. How am I supposed to make a clear-headed decision when it's like this?That is, if writing poems is the price I need to pay in order to spend every day with these beautiful girls...
"...Right. Okay, I've decided, then. I'll join the Literature Club."[Reassuring] Caring about you isn't the burden your mind is making it out to be. It's something that makes me happy. It's something that I wouldn't trade for anything else. So, even if it takes an entire lifetime... I'm going to be by your side until you don't feel any more pain.
[In shock; devastated] This isn't some game where I can reset and try something different. I only had one chance, and I wasn't careful enough.
