The Dragrat Presents: Gigi's (A Demo Reel Test for Year One)
Holly Lindin for Oxytocin - Bailey Scriber, May 1975
This narrator is jaded and holding contempt for herself. The kind of frustration that rings with in her voice. An inner dissatisfaction to the love she feels for someone that had taken the life out of her.
I do not deserve to hunt nor gather,
For I am weak to the yearnings of heart and mind,
I could bring this species no farther,
In being unloved by the love I pined.
To go against the grain of Darwin’s nature,
To push the heart to pain, great pain for nought,
Does this species, strong species no favor,
Than leave a carcass to fester and rot.
But we are more than a collection of flesh and emotion,
That beat, and pump, and writhe, and cry,
More than addicts for memories and oxytocin,
We are Homo sapien, human beings, that love unloved, and wonder why.
