We loved your little improv line at the beginning there! Totally fits with his character. Quick question, do you have a pop filter? We really enjoyed your take but would like to filter out some of the plosives for when the Captain speaks up, especially with the "P"s!

    Can't say I do have a pop filter, but shifting the distance of the microphone might resolve that, was admittedly holding the Snowball at the time (Mattress aren't very level!) which may have been a factor. Glad you liked the improv line, and looking to invest in a pop filter shortly.

Captain Jackson Lockett is the commanding officer on board the Aleria.  He is a minor supporting character, featured briefly in a few scenes spread across the first season, along with making a few announcements.  Most of Captain Lockett's lines come in the form of several speeches he presents, though he does have a few conversational scenes as well.  


Voice:  The  voice of Captain Lockett should sound authoritative and commanding.  The idea from the writers is for the character to have a southern drawl or twang to his voice, though this is optional and just a suggestion.  

About the character:  Jackson Lockett is the Captain and Head Commander on board the Aleria.  All persons on board, including officers, crew, passengers and guests are under Captain Lockett’s authority.   Though he runs a tight ship, he also knows the importance of having a relaxed and happy crew, and is willing to turn a blind eye to some of the shenanigans and trouble the crew sometimes find themselves in.

  • (Muttering to himself) Hello?  Hmm, is this damn thing on? Okay there we go.  (Clears Throat) Ahem.  Attention cadets of the Aleria, this is Captain Jackson Lockett speaking.   I have a few announcements to make, so listen up!  

  • (Giving a speech) Greetings, to all you new recruits! On behalf of the officers staff of the Aleria, I welcome you on board.  Whether you are coming fresh from the Star Corps Academy, finishing up at trade school, or a transfer from another vessel, we welcome all of you who will play a vital role upon the Aleria.

  • (Angry) A Clerical error?  For fucks sake, is that what I’m supposed to tell her parents?   Commander, this situation needs to be sorted out... immediately.  I do not like being in the dark with what is going on inside my own ship.  Do I make myself clear, Commander?
