An aspiring scientist, Lex Luthor attends Smallville High along with Clark and his friends. As odd things begin to transpire after his mistreatment of a kid named Kenny Braverman, Lex begins to fear the "metahuman threat". After a failed attempt at killing Kenny (And Clark after figuring out he doesn't want to hurt Kenny and feeling betrayed by that), Lex Luthor would trigger an explosion that would burn away all of his hair and disfigure his face. Although he'd lose his memories of Clark having powers, this bitter resentment for a powerful figure would be recycled into his hatred for Superman oh so many years later.
