Absolute Superman Issue #6
Jun for Martha Kent
Martha Kent
Martha Kent (35-40 voice): gentle, protective, maternal instinct overriding fear. She doesn't understand what Kal is but knows he needs her. In the present day: memory care patient who doesn't recognize the man Superman has become.
Direction: Two states, warm mother in the past and a hollow shell in the present. The contrast between those two states is the tragedy.

"When Jonathan told me what Lazarus wanted, what they'd do to him. I didn't cry. I went to his room and I folded his clothes. Thinking that one day he would come back to us."
""He ate like a furnace. Fourteen eggs, a loaf of bread, half a gallon of milk. Every morning. I'd stand at that stove and think: this is the best problem I've ever had."
"For fourteen weeks, that boy called me 'Ma.' And no amount of truth takes that away."
