Marcus Cole
auditioning for
Superman (Kal El)
in Absolute Superman Issue #6
KAL-EL / ABSOLUTE SUPERMAN
Kal El: volatile, wounded, struggling with powers and a language he doesn't speak.
Adult narration: devastated, reflective, grieving a home he had for two weeks. registers raw vulnerability and broken adult memory.
Direction: Not heroic. Not confident. This is a boy who was given a family and then had it ripped away. The narration should sound like a man who never recovered.
On Krypton, I wore the Crest of the Labor Guild. It was seen as a mark of shame. But my parents taught me to wear it with pride.
Hello... my name is... Kal El
"They gave me fourteen weeks. Fourteen weeks of a home that smelled like bread and engine oil. Martha humming something I can't remember now."
