There are two points to Ariana. At the beginning of her story, she's a fanatic. She truly has her faith in Giovanni. She's willing to do anything to keep Team Rocket together. 


By the second part of the story, she's broken. Arrested and disillusioned, she's confronted by Silver, and defiantly defends her devotion to Giovanni.
