Tae Kwon Donkey - Issue 1
Devin Younge for Voice Actor - Tae Kwon Donkey
LEAD ROLE
Tae Kwon Donkey is the reluctant protagonist of the Tae Kwon Donkey Universe...a martial arts comic series blending absurd anthropomorphic action with emotional mythology, philosophy, and consequence.
Despite the ridiculous surface appearance of the world, Tae is emotionally sincere, introspective, conflicted, and spiritually exhausted. He is not a traditional heroic protagonist.
The ideal performance should balance:

- uncertainty
- restrained intensity

This role should NOT sound:

“Even if I fight every fight and win… we’ve already lost… what we’ve already lost.” (Introspective - recurring theme line for Tae Kwon Donkey)
“Speaking of saving it… how exactly are we supposed to stop the Claw and Order with a bunch of useless art? …So now we’re gonna kill them with poems?” (Demonstrating his sarcasm, quippiness, and reluctant energy)
“You are right, Crab… I’m just a lazy ass… and when I say ‘ass’… I mean… DONKEY!!!” (Beaten to a pulp...his come back moment...breaking out of his nature and finally having a big hero moment)
I legit got chills at the end of this one. You nailed the ending bit. I really like the quick monotone casual takes at the beginning of the audition as well. It makes the character feel natural. Its a very strong audition. Legitimately great, and is being considered. If I were to nitpick and offer my only concern. Its the sarcastic inflections in the voice that maybe could be slightly more pronounced. Thanks so much for taking the time.
oh wow, thank you for the notes!! I'm so glad you enjoyed, and it's rare to get specific feedback on an audition like this, so thank you for offering it -- really helps us actors improve. I had a blast on this one too, thank you for listening and for putting out the call!
