Ruby is a debt collector and needs to sound as butch and imposing as a woman would have to be in that profession. She is too direct to be a femme fatale and that should come across in her speech patterns being very flat and blunt and only getting legato and sincere very occasionally as she keeps that part of her life guarded behind a layer of detachment. Ruby is a cliff face that the detective Nerassa crashes against and eventually erodes.
