Silence
Nathan Ashcroft for Voice 1
Project Description: Silence is an experimental animated documentary that looks at activism, imagery and protest when you are a mute person.
Protest and activism are loud, but when you are LGBT+, disabled and mute, you need to take a different approach when getting your voice heard.
Silence draws on the evocative slogans and images of protest badges and presents how they can give a voice to people.
Silence uses animation, sound, quietness and narration to tell a passionate story of defiance and disobedience when at times you cannot speak.
What I am looking for – 8 characters that will make up the voice over for the documentary. The recordings I need are short paragraphs of only 20 – 100 words. Silence is a short film (5 minutes in length) and the voices will be short voice overs on top of the animation. I can give examples of my previous short films for anyone who is interested, as Silence follows a similar style. The actors should be able to record their own lines. Recording instructions can be given on request.

It’s the noise. It’s the noise that makes it difficult. When I am in busy places, I can’t talk.
