Alaya Jones (or Aly Jones) is a young 13 year old who shares a birthdate with her twin, Akiana (Aki) Jones. Aly always was a more rough child, a sparkier, more social one. Meanwhile, Akiana, was the more calm, sweet, and quiet twin.  When they were younger, at the age of 8, their parents took them to the outside of a police station and told them they would be back in a while. After waiting for a while, Alaya became impatient. Aly asked every person who passed them where they're parents were. A stranger came up to them and told them she knew where they're parents were. The twins were young and agreed, not knowing what would actually happen. Of course, as you could already tell, the woman lied. Taking the twins back to her home, she told them stories. She gained their trust, but when they finally got to the woman's house, she lost that trust. She badly burnt Alaya's hands and held Akiana's head underwater for long periods of time while she furiously struggled. Woman repeated this process day after day for years. Untill- They managed to get away. They don't remember how, or at least they say they don't ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) . Traumatized, they headed back to their old home, only to find they're parents had been hit by a car in the last 4 years they had been gone. They're childhood home had been passed on to them, and they didn't want to sell it. So they stayed there.  Alaya found in the middle of the night one night, that she could light her fingertips afire. She went to show Akira, but Akira wasn't sleeping where she usually slept. Panic set in, and Alaya ran outside to see Akiana with her feet dipped in their pool with water droplets surrounding her. When they both found they had this ability, they used it for magic shows to make a profit. But one point, a young male photographer came backstage to one of the shows and took pictures of them controlling fire and water. This caused a backlash at a show where the police had to get involved- but not to ward off the crowds. To take the young entrepreneur twins to Acadia.
