Hi there! I'm Simon, but I'm likely better known as CH4VK (Pronounced Cha-vik), and I'm an aspiring voice actor from South Africa.
Despite where I come from, I actually speak very good English, and I have an American Accent! I was actually born in South Africa, but then I moved to Saudi Arabia, and participated school there. My teacher, though I can't remember her name, came from Mississippi. She was my language teacher, and so, as I learned to speak English from her, I was also taught to pronounce everything in an American accent. When I was around 9, I was very obsessed with acting. I'd walk around my room all the time, making up scenarios in my head, and act them out (until my mom came in, which then I immediately stopped. I would've rather died than be caught being weird).
My biggest inspirations would have to be the Scout from Team Fortress 2, The Walten Files, and Cry Of Fear. I think I was 11 around the time the first TWF episode came out, and since then, I was hooked. It was so scary, but so captivating. What I loved the most about TWF, however, was the emotion that the characters voices had.
Since then, I knew exactly what I wanted to be. I wanted to be a voice actor, and I wanted to show the world, and my mom, that I have what it takes to be an actor. However, I wasn't in the right place for any acting classes, so I had to get creative. I started making my own things, recording scenes from movies or video games, and throwing those recordings into Videoleap, where I'd voice over the characters from there. This is also how I learned to edit videos, but that's not what I'm here for.
Overtime, I made more and more dubs of videos, until my own storage on my iPad filled up. But not even storage could stop me. I moved from phones, to tablets, to laptops, to desktops. And with each and every device I had, I voiced my heart out, putting my all into these silly one-off videos that no one else would see. But that never bothered me. Voice acting was my playtime, from dusk to dawn. And, to this day, it still very much is.
One more thing, I noticed that there's roles that you can take that you can get paid for, but I don't actually want to get paid, at least not yet. If I hadn't made it clear enough, voice acting is a pure passion of mine, but I don't believe I'm ready to start getting paid for my work. I'm only now starting to make a little name for myself, so I believe that before I start asking for money, I wanna do some voice work for free, to accumulate references that I can give to my future employers, to show that I'm worth what I ask. Beside that, I would honestly do all of this for free anyway. I've never worked a day in my life when it comes to voice acting.
