Mars is the founder of the group of regional defenders known as the Guardians. He along with two friends, Venus and Neptune, were originally explorers. On one expedition into the uncharted mountains of Kanto, they came across a building that once housed five Pokemon that were of the same name, the Guardians, long deceased. Mars took it into his hands to bring back the legacy of their heroism.
