Class Session 1
Lillia for Role
Full details of homework is on Closing Credits
Love your voice Lillia, you have a nice calming tone that's quite pleasant to listen to!
I like the direction we chose, very nice sort of comforting delivery, very in character for the take we chose. I will say, I think we should slow down the read overall. Not necessarily the delivery speed, but how quickly we move through the script. Take more time to read through the script and prepare how you'll deliver the lines. We sometimes ran into the quality of being able to hear you reading the script instead of performing it. Sort of as if someone you were having a conversation with kept looking down at a piece of paper whilst speaking to you. So take your time between lines, plan your approach, and don't just recite the script, deliver it!
Now let's talk about the other portion of the homework, the projection. You might've missed the direction but we were actually hoping you would perform the script as if you were in a gym full of people and didn't have a mic. Obviously we went a very different direction and that's fine, I'll just drop some projection practice that you can do on your own time or our next homework practice! If you could act as if you were in a gym again for at least the first half of the next homework that would be grand just so we can get an idea of your volume range! Now for projection remember that it lies in the air support of your delivery. You need to take great big breaths that fill up your lungs, you need to use your diaphragm to push out great columns of air, and you need to sustain that air support for the duration of the read! Dynamics is such an important tool for any voice actor and its important to work on expanding our volume range and control!
Good work Lillia, looking forward to hearing more!
