Class Session 1
Blake for Role
Full details of homework is on Closing Credits
Pretty good read Blake! A sturdy take on the script and good confidence in the read.
First off the bat I'd ask you to slow the pace by a little bit. Not that we were going too fast, but the read had just a few hiccups and misreads as well as a tone of "reading" that could be ironed out by taking a slightly slower pace gives our eyes and brain more time to fully read the script and minimizes the chances of missing words and gives time to provide character to the delivery and lose the sound of "reading" the script. We want to put ourselves into the scene where we're projecting this script out to an auditorium and see the audience in front of us, feel the walls reverberate to our words, and really immerse ourselves in the character and scene.
That brings us to projection! Or in this read, our nice little chat. We were at s good 3.5/10 like having a nice intimate conversation with a friend. Close quarters and comfortable. We wanted to hear this delivered in the gym full of people and you don't have a mic! We want to hear great big breaths, huge air support, and line that carry all the way to the people in the back goofing off and not paying attention! We want to hear you deliver in a way that DEMANDS their attention and holds onto it! Fill up your lungs, use that diaphragm, send great big columns of air our to support your script! Let's see if we can get you up to at least a 5/10 or 6/10! Dynamics is such a fantastic tool in the voice actor tool box and we are always better for expanding our range and developing our volume control!
Nice read again Blake! Looking forward to listening to more!
