HW Review:

Hi Miguel, thank you for submitting your week 1 HW! Let's break it down~

As your fellow student mentioned below, you do have a very crisp and warm voice that is pleasant to listen to. Let's talk a bit about how we can improve on some of your technical skills to improve on it.

First off, your breath control. You run out of breath a few times in your read, which leads to a loss in power and clarity. You're going to find yourself becoming more and more aware of your breathing throughout these next weeks. When approaching a long form script like this, it's important to take deep breaths with natural pauses so you can get through each sentence without running out of breath and straining yourself.

Then there is your projection, which is also lacking here. Taking deeper, more controlled breaths will help support your projection, but you also need to be utilizing your diaphragm to help push your voice out. You don't want to sound like you are speaking to someone directly next to you. When you really project, everyone in a crowded gymnasium from the front to the back row should be able to hear you!

Practice taking natural pauses in your script reads where you can take deep breaths that you can use in conjunction with your diaphragm. I can tell that you've got some boom in there (your voice), you just gotta utilize your breath and diaphragm to push it out.

Keep up the practice!
