Description / Characteristics of this Role:

Obadiah Stane is a ruthless businessman and Tony Stark’s former mentor who secretly seeks to undermine him in order to gain control of Stark Industries. Initially portrayed as a trusted ally, Stane's true motivations are driven by greed and ambition. His charismatic exterior hides a cold, calculating nature, and when Tony’s life-changing event leads him to embrace responsibility, Stane decides to take drastic measures to claim the power he believes is rightfully his. As Iron Monger, he becomes the primary antagonist, determined to destroy Tony and take over the technology that Stark created.

Obadiah is manipulative, calculating, and egotistical. He is extremely patient, waiting for the perfect moment to strike and seize control of Tony’s company. Despite his outward charm and respectability, Stane has little moral compass, seeing people as mere tools to be used for his own gain. His sense of entitlement fuels his hatred toward Tony, whom he feels is an irresponsible and immature figure who doesn’t appreciate the power they hold. Stane is driven by ambition and a desire for recognition, even if it requires betraying those closest to him.

His downfall is marked by his arrogance and overconfidence, believing he could outsmart Tony. His desire to control everything around him leads him to create the Iron Monger suit, which ultimately proves to be his undoing.
