Alex McKessie is Darwin’s brilliant but socially awkward little sister, a scientific influencer who spends more time tinkering in her lab than hanging with people. Equal parts robotics mastermind and mad scientist, Alex is just as unhinged as her brother—if not more—especially when her inventions inevitably go haywire.

Age: 10

  • Anais Watterson (The Amazing World of Gumball)

  • [Presenting her experiment] Ok, class. Prepare to be ASTOUNDED! Made directly from my lab, I present (pulls sheet off cage) … Oh... It got out... Welp! (Claps hands, cheerfully nervous) You MIIIGHT wanna cover your orifices—y’know, eyes, ears, mouths—PRONTO!

  • [On the phone with a friend, fighting for her life against her own experiment] Oh—ack!—hello? Oh hiii!...Hang out? Oh, I’d love to, really, but I’m just a TEENSY bit—grrhh!—tied up at the moment! Ya know, just taking care of one of my experiments—back, BACK!—(awkward laugh) call ya back!

Hi Rayanne! Thanks so much for auditioning!

Starting with notes — it felt like you were holding back on the maniacal laugh; that’s where Alex’s "mad scientist" side really needs to shine through. The second line was solid, though there were a few small word stumbles. As for the third line, remember she’s literally fighting for her life, albeit on the cheery side— it still needs urgency and punch to really sell that moment.

Now, onto what we loved — your nasally tone works perfectly for Alex! It fits her quirky, slightly awkward energy to a T, and you really captured that introverted, “too smart for her own good” undertone. There’s great potential here; just lean harder into the chaotic genius vibe. Thanks again for submitting!
