My young client said that this pony was to be named "Twilight Sparkle". Granted, I'm keeping everything a bit more on the original side, but her favorite character appears to be the purple pony.

The Child Pony character is technically an Alicorn (a pony with wings and a unicorn horn). Purple body and yellow/blonde mane and tail. I was going to have the hair more detailed, but for animating purposes, I cut it short :)

I would say the Child Pony character has a little spunk to her and is a little spontaneous (the story pretty much ends with the pony running after the bad guy with a flame thrower after all!).
