Producer/script adaptor, Director and Sound designer role for dramatised audiobook productions
Kristoff Grey for Sound designer/editor
The Sound Designer is a key creative partner in our post-production process. Working with a dialogue timeline pre-assembled by our Director, you will be the architect of our soundscapes, using sound effects and ambiance to evoke emotion, build tension, and immerse the listener completely in the narrative. This role requires a strong artistic sense, technical skill, and the ability to work collaboratively and efficiently within an established workflow.
Pay Clarification: Our current pay structure is based off of word count. Therefore, the hourly rate is an estimation of work load per hour and not an official figure. As word counts can change depending on title, we are unable to apply a flat rate either. Thank you for your understanding.
Receive pre-edited project files from the Director, with dialogue already placed on the timeline.
Perform a quality control review of the edited dialogue, performing a final polish for pacing and flow while flagging any significant technical issues.
Following the script, creatively source, design, and integrate high-quality sound effects that build the scene's atmosphere and action.
Expertly mix and master the final track, blending dialogue, sound effects, and any musical elements into a cohesive and immersive audio experience.
Manage project timelines effectively to deliver polished, broadcast-ready audio on schedule.
Proven experience as a Sound Designer or Audio Engineer, with a portfolio that demonstrates your work in audio drama, podcasting, film, video games, or a related field.
High proficiency in a professional Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) like Pro Tools, Reaper, Adobe Audition, Logic Pro, etc.
An excellent auditory imagination and the ability to creatively translate written direction into compelling sound.
The ability to work collaboratively, take direction, and seamlessly integrate into an existing post-production workflow.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage your time effectively to meet production deadlines.
Meticulous attention to detail and a passion for creating clean, high-quality audio.
Not a requirement, but as we are an audiobook company, an interest in fiction books would be well looked upon.
Comfort with potentially working on "Romantasy" or spicy romance titles is an optional requirement as we are looking to potentially pick up such titles.
This is a fully remote role. However, please note that Kokoro Audio is based in Sydney, Australia (AEST). The successful candidate must have the flexibility to attend virtual meetings and coordinate with the team, which may require attending meetings during early mornings or late evenings, depending on your time zone.
When applying, please attach examples or portfolios of projects you have worked on previously.
