Lead Role

Runt is part-human, part-rat, with oversized rat ears, a twitchy nose, and a long tail. She dresses in a baggy, grease-stained yellow shirt layered over a gray-and-white striped undershirt, paired with scuffed gray shorts. Her bright purple hair is hacked into a short, straight bob. Big goggles perpetually rest on her forehead, and she lugs around a backpack almost as big as she is.

Curiosity fuels Runt like rocket fuel mixed with caffeine. She’s excitable, sharp-minded, and always on the lookout for opportunities to prove her superior intellect and skills. Despite her age—about sixteen—she eagerly works with others, motivated by a genuine desire to improve lives with her inventions. Of course, she’s not above loudly boasting about her brilliance to squeeze out a little authority in social situations.

Runt’s lungs are damaged, leaving her with severe asthma that makes even simple breathing a chore. She sometimes struggles to enunciate certain words, her sentences breaking around wheezes and coughs.
