Bud is a bravo very much on the verge of retiring as the story opens, and doing so soon after. Having worked alongside Ess for years, Bud has seen far too much and risked his life one too many to keep going, and the choice is made clear after his last mission leaves him with a limp.
Bud is by no means a young man anymore, and has been left jaded by his work.
Bud is a very minor character in the story.
Bud should sound gruff, tired, and rather deep-voiced. In the opening of the story, his voice will also be slightly muffled by a ballistic mask, but this is an effect which can also be added in editing later.
