Class Session 1
David Wamala for Role
Full details of homework is on Closing Credits
Once you hit the "Come on in" and "just right for you" paragraph, I felt your voice brightened up more and had more warmth in it that carried through to the end.
Projection could use a bit more “oomph” into it, I like to look at projection with the gym example like this, out of 10, what row could hear you without it starting to dissipate? Right now, it looks like you’re at the 3rd row. While we want to try and reach that 8th to 9th row for projection. Let’s try to practice for that projection, the best way I personally practice it, is by placing my phone 10-15 feet away and leave it recording, and practicing trying to let my voice be heard very clearly without making it sound like you’re yelling.
Your pacing and tempo is pretty good, just a bit too consistent for this read. It’s a very concise way to look at it, but I want to look a bit more for the conversational read, as in look at how we speak to people for our day to day, we tend to speed up and slow down, changing the tempo throughout how we speak. Changing things up is one of the most important things when it comes to voice over~!
One thing I definitely want you to take away is that your read here is very concise and easy to follow along with in terms of pronunciations, really great work here. And whether or not this script was practiced prior to the record button being pressed, it definitely sounded like it cause you were able to go through without any complaints about pronunciation from me!
But one of the major things I’d like you to watch out for is not how you pronounce each word, but how you approach each sentence. A lot of the time when you have something with a repetitious nature such as the long winded list in this read, there was a consistent emphasis on the first word of the sentences. And a really strong attack on that first word, which again goes back to my previous critique of changing things up.
But all in all, good start and I can’t wait to see what you bring to the table and what we work on in the coming weeks!
