Marina was born a male, and according to the Church of All-mer that must require men to do a life of servitude which her mother wanted to prevent, so she raised her as a daughter. Leading an unorthodox life gave her scrutiny from her father, so she leaves to study the Occult and becomes proficient at it. When her father sends a suspicious letter telling of her mother’s death, Marina returns to investigate.
