Class Session 1
Joe Murray for Role
Full details of homework is on Closing Credits
Oh no I didn't include a description! This was a lot of fun once I got over the nerves. I went as earnest and genuine as possible, like I genuinely believe everything I'm saying and it's the best thing ever.
HW REVIEW
"I went as earnest and genuine as possible, like I genuinely believe everything I'm saying and it's the best thing ever."
^ This is a great mindset to have when going into a sales-like script this this one! You goal of a voice actor is to never sound like they are reading (unless the scene calls for it, of course). I can definitely hear the confidence in your tone!
The aim of the HW this week was to focus on your projection, so let's talk about that a little bit. You have some strength to your voice, and for the most part you seem to have a good grasp on your breath control and an awareness of your stamina. You only waver a bit towards the end where you strain your breath 1:46 as you push yourself to get through the list.
That said, your projection is losing power from the speed of your read. You speak clearly and only stumble in a couple of spots, but you're sacrificing a lot of your energy to the quick pacing of the read when you could be expending that energy on your projection instead. Push with your diaphragm to get your voice to carry with more power. Slow down your read and practice controlling your volume.
This is a good read. You've got solid bones and a good understanding of your performance goals. Keep it up!
