Class Session 1
Walker for Role
Full details of homework is on Closing Credits
This gave me Colin Farrell's Penguin and I love it. It's such a unique take on the assignment and it was a joy to listen to.
That’s such a nice compliment 😭 I don’t know if I could escape such a high now lol
Loved this. Reminds me of Danny DeVito in Matilda. Super refreshing take. Thank you for this.
You took this a great place, love it!
Extraordinarily sleeze-tastic my friend! Thoughtfully crafted and full of characterization. This is a really fun read. Your sleazy car salesman come across very strongly but I'm missing the projection we wanted to hear from you! A great volume for the scene you chose, just do me a favor and give me you belting lines at a 8/10 in one of these other homeworks just so we can see you can project out to a crowd! Fill out your abdominal cavity and give it to us!
You do these very fun improved lines in the read, big fan of that but everyone will have their opinion on how acceptable it is to deviate off script. Character work tends to be more forgiving while commercial work tends to be stricter. My personal opinion is if your gonna improvise, leave a pause before and after your improv. That way, if they don't like it they can cut it out easy. If they do like it, they can curt out the pauses. Here, you had a few lines that would be re-takes if the director wanted you to stay on script.
This is a very clean read, lots of personality, and a lot of flavor. All things that I enjoyed a lot listening too and serve to make you pop in an audition. That said, if this was rehearsed at all, I'd ask you to leave in more rough elements of the homework as well. Part of what we want to gauge with the 1 take stipulation is to comment on how you handle mistakes and how to recover. Namely stopping, going up the script to a break, and taking the line again.
Fantastic and fun read Walker! Looking forward to more from ya!
Oh! Almost forgot, you skipped the last section of the script. There's an additional extra bonus gift that was omitted from the read. Make sure you're reading all the way through!
