Voice Description
Should sound moderately deep while remaining comforting. The type of voice that comes across confident and reliable. Despite the horrible things happening around him, he still finds a way to make light of the situation. The only times he takes things truly seriously are when others' safety and well being are involved. He sees the world for what it is and accepts it. He's grown the habit of laughing his problems away as to him, there's no sense in taking things you can't change so seriously.

Character Description
Jaune, like CJ, grew up mostly on the streets of Isha always wondering when or even if he will be able to score a meal. However, he is not native to the country as he was born foreign after his to be mother bedded a soldier that she had housed for protection. The soldier managed to return home with the surviving members of his squad mostly unscathed, unknowingly leaving Jaune's mother to later be hunted by the local militia. In her attempts to flee the country, she had fallen victim to human trafficking where she would ultimately have Jaune. The human trafficking ring would be stopped years later by a special police unit, Jaune still being rather young at the time. Jaune's father was found to be part of this unit as he retired from the military soon after returning. Jaune's mother was taken into custody as she had entered the country illegally while the soldier took partial custody over Jaune, allowing him to stay. This was short lived as it's discovered that his father already had a family of his own. Jaune was refused stay by the wife, leaving Jaune on the streets. Being so young, he did not understand why everything had turned out this way. Nor was he ever told the situation regarding his father, who still kept a close eye on Jaune and helped him as he could. Jaune would later be inducted into a private security detail by referral from his father. Where he would later meet CJ under the strangest of circumstances.

  • [Amused as he finds the claim ridiculous.]
1)"Similar? Us? We're both street rats, 'bout all the similarities we have. Example, I don't go walking around scowling at everyone."
    [Irritated and a little disgusted.]
2)"You use that word, Malignant, like being one robs a person of their humanity. Is that really how you see people? Hell, you're a Malignant...is that how you see yourself?"

  • [Should have a somber tone, like he's reminiscing while also being a little silly.]
"You know, when I first met you, I thought...this chick is in desperate need of a vacation. I still think that but it's not the point. Point is: I understand 'why' now. I understand why no matter how many times or how hard life knocks you on your ass, you always come back swinging. That kid really is something special, has this way of making you forget about all the...unfair shit in the world. I get why you would go so far to protect that. Just remember: That little girl isn't going to want a future where you're not there beside her."

  • [Should sound distracted at first, as you near the end of the line his words become more direct and focused.]
"~And to answer your question...the reason I can run dick first into this manmade hell is because I have someone worth fighting for, someone that deserves a tomorrow. Certainly more than most do. You really just can't help but to love the girl...and 'love' makes us do crazy things...and yeah, this? This is crazy."

I thought you're audition was pretty good, definitely sound natural in your delivery. Giving the lines your own touch was notable, laughter and pauses are fine but you wanna try to stick to the lines for the most part. While they're not pulled directly from the story, they are written in a particular way for a reason. I try to be careful about excessive cussing, while adding in a cuss word can add to a moment, it can also take away when overdone. Also, your portrayal sounded more like you were putting on a play for theater rather than the serious real life tone "Evermore" tries to embody. Jaune doesn't take things too seriously, he'll make smart little comments, but he's not a clown/gag character. He's a guy who's been dealt a bad hand in life and is trying to make the most of it. He can be silly at times, but there's always this feeling you should get from him. Like he can joke and make light of things all he wants, but never really seems to convince himself. Still, I enjoyed it overall

If you were to make a comparison, who would you say he'd sound most like?

If you mean between those that have auditioned, including myself, none of us quite match what I imagined Jaune to sound like. I came up with the idea to audition for my own roles to give an example and to clear up pronunciation issues. Professional wise, Travis Willingham's portrayal of Dan Marshall from Binary Domain is the closest comparison I can give. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-cpbRn1AfE Jump to: 0:35

Oh shit, I've actually played that game! I don't think I can do a good impression of him, but I'll give it a shot lol.

You can if you want, but that's one of the reasons why I didn't include a reference. While giving someone a guideline can help it's up to that individual to convey the character. I don't want people auditioning with the mindset of: "I need to sound like this or that person." My idea of the character might not actually be best, it's nice to have a different perspective, and that perspective could possibly overshadow my own. So, I prefer that my guidelines be considered but the conclusion should be of your own creation. Hope that makes sense. Look forward to your re-audition.

I mean it just makes it easier for me.
