The Drifter
(Male, 30s-50s) Appears in two forms. As the PURSUER, he is a crazed, fanatical true believer, his voice ragged with mania and conviction. As ENGINEER ARNO in the final log, his voice is adrenaline-addled and laced with the weary horror of a man who has seen the truth and been broken by it. We need an actor who can portray both unhinged fanaticism and tragic, desperate clarity.
(The Pursuer - Manic): "Not for long spaceman! We'll add you to the others. (beat, as if listening to someone respond) Oh, we will!"
(The Log - Tragic Clarity): "My recommendation? Percussive therapy. Don't talk to it, don't listen to it. Kill it. Beat it to a bloody pulp and hope that’s enough.”
