CALO Part 5 (3D animated short)
Steven Jobson for S.O. -35 Whitley
Whitley is a security guard working alone at a nearly abandoned attraction set in a canyon that's long since been mined out. He is reclusive, and a bit crass socially. Whitley prefers to speak only when spoken to, or when required by his job.
Whitley exudes a sense of frustration and bitterness towards the world, both from his financial situation forcing him to work while disabled, and is only there for insurance coverage and a paycheck.
Whitley's speaks in a medium/deep range of voice, with a southern US accent. He is in the age range of late 20s-mid 30s. Here's some examples of similar voices I have in mind, although they don't have the accent they're close to the general gist.
Cavalero - (Brent Mukai) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXu51eJMWG4
Arnold - (Kellen Goff) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qoJrP64jms
Marshal Waits - William Hope https://youtu.be/UuCQWfRQUy0?si=iRkxEKx0HupEfIx5&t=71
This role will require a lot of shouting, so a good knowledge of managing audio recording at varying levels is required. If multiple recording days are needed to cut down on vocal strain that is A okay!
The word count for this role is 689, billed at 30 cents per word, plus some for lots of shouting and some more "combat sounds" or grunts/ heavy breaths that I'm not entirely sure how to account for in word count, totaled to 270$

"Site's closed for renovations, you know that? So how'd you manage to get all the way down here?"
"Look I can kick him out, I- I don't see what the big deal is."
"This is S.O.-35 to command, there's… there's something here. Fuck, The hell is that thing?"
