- Pelican Pilot and Co-Pilot (Dirt): The two final characters the Rookie encounters in Dirt, albeit brief and technically unnamed roles, however important in picking the Rookie up at the end of the mission and informing him of the need to return to Earth for the events of Halo 3 ODST. I’m leaning towards a friendly jokier voice for these to contrast Gage, however they can be any accent, any gender, even any tonality. They will have heightened reactionary lines, since they witness the Shiva core detonate right before spotting Rook and landing for pickup. and while the book gives the Pilot two lines and the Co-Pilot only one, all three are after Rook hops on board. I believe it will easy to and likely very helpful in creating an image in the viewers minds to provide them with custom over-radio lines briefly reacting to the events. My thought is to potentially choose one male and one female VA for these roles.

  • Mother of--The hell was that?! Looks like a damn nuke went off!!

  • Look! Survivor! ... Hotzone clear... this is Pelican: Mike, four fourty-four, requesting perch for Oscar Delta Sierra Tango evac over. Copy over, dropping to one-zero. Landing gear engaged, cracking open blood tray... Pelican touching down, engines green.

  • What the hell happened over there?? ... The civilians have been evacuated, we're taking them back to Earth with us... The Covenant just attacked Reach, we're falling back, to Mother Earth...

I really like your delivery of some of these parts, especially where you add what feels like moments of hesitation while you "read" the pelicans screens, ie. "Dropping tooooo.. one zero" as though delaying response while glancing at the altimeter, or even the slight breaks between each 'Oscar, Delta, Sierra, Tango'. To be a tad brutal, I feel the lines without southern accent work best here, they retain the pilots personality without going too overboard which I feel would be right at home here. I'm really thinking this going to be a tough decision all round for all of these characters. Were you set on the pilot/co-pilot? There is opportunity for yet another pilot/co-pilot combo mid film so I'm open to it!

Thanks so much for the kind words! I’m glad you liked my audition. I chose the pilot/copilot role because I’ve always been a fan of pilots both in fiction and real life. Plus all the flight lingo and stuff is fun to do haha!
