/// CHARACTER OVERVIEW ///
Kalidah Keres is the primary antagonist of the series, serving as both a mirror and foil to the protagonists—especially Amaya and Alejandra. A tragic figure twisted by abandonment, cruelty, and the illusion of choice, Kalidah is not evil for evil’s sake. She is a product of a world that punished her for existing, and now she seeks to remake—or destroy—it on her own terms.

In Season 1, Kalidah is introduced as a powerful but enigmatic necromancer with an ancient aura. Her motives appear unclear at first—mysterious attacks, cryptic warnings, and dark omens. But as the layers are peeled back, it becomes clear: Kalidah once believed in kindness, in hope, in love—and lost it all due to her parents. Once she finds Carla, her light is brought back into her life, but due to necromancy powers taking Carla's Life force, she ended up dying, and Kalidah continued her work for her.

By Season 2, her true nature is revealed. No longer hiding behind shadows, her reasoning lost and her humanity gone. She's been asleep for so long that all she remembers is what she stood for in the past, and can only see how the world has forgotten. She only sees that she has to set things right to the way things were before she and the undead mobs were sealed away. She is over a thousand years old, yet still the same age as if she had been locked almost in time in sleep before waking up. She is cold, brilliant, and utterly unwavering. She will not go down without a fight, nor will she give up until her last dying breath. She does not see herself as a villain—merely the only one who truly understands what must be done.

Her presence challenges every member of the cast, emotionally and philosophically. She does not just battle them physically—she attacks their ideals, emotions, and relationships they've forged together.

/// ABOUT CHARACTER ///

Name: Kalidah Keres (formerly Johnson)
Age: 23 (Season 1), 1012+ (Seasons 2–3)
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Unknown (Intentionally ambiguous; considers love a weakness or distraction)

Likes:

  • Destruction, especially of false heroes and fragile systems

  • The sound of silence after a battlefield

  • Control over life, death, and fate itself

  • Power that can’t be questioned or taken

  • Cold nights, empty cities, and voices that obey

Dislikes:

  • Being pitied

  • The idea of destiny or fate

  • Her former self—the weak girl who once needed saving

  • Amaya Han (deeply, obsessively fixated)

  • Compared to Carla, especially after her fall

Hobbies:

  • Refining necromantic rituals and dark enchantments

  • Writing in coded runes—her journals are said to scream when touched

  • Visiting her old ruins, watching them rot with beauty

  • Training alone in blighted fields, mastering combat and magic alike

  • Singing lullabies from her childhood (only in solitude)

Archetype: The Villain (Rejected from society early on; a dark mirror of the hero)

Personality:
Kalidah is an embodiment of restrained chaos—elegant, precise, and dangerous. She rarely raises her voice, but when she speaks, it’s as if the air itself bends to listen. Her words are sharp and deliberate, chosen to cut rather than to explain. She believes in control, order, and the necessity of suffering for growth.

She shows no interest in redemption, believing she has transcended such concepts. She views hope as poison, love as a trap, and mercy as failure. And yet… she still remembers the girl she was. That girl screams in the cracks of her voice, in the lullabies she hums when no one is watching. That ghost is the only weakness Kalidah refuses to admit exists.

Kalidah isn’t a monster because she hates the world—she’s a monster because she once loved it too much.

Friendships:
None. She does not form attachments. Any ally is a pawn—valued for usefulness, not emotion.

Family:

  • Mother – Deceased (Killed by Kalidah). Emotionally absent and neglectful.

  • Father – Deceased (Killed by Kalidah). Greedy and absent, more interested in wealth than his daughter’s survival.

  • Carla Keres – The only person Kalidah ever looked up to. A ruthless teacher, master necromancer, and villain in her own right. Took Kalidah in after seeing her potential. Though she was cold, her rare praise shaped Kalidah's entire self-worth. Carla’s death (unacknowledged by Kalidah) left a hole she refuses to acknowledge, still speaking about her in the present tense.

Enemies:

  • Amaya Han – Kalidah’s first and deepest nemesis. Where Kalidah chose vengeance, Amaya chose healing. Their conflict is not just physical but ideological. Kalidah is obsessed with her—hate twisted with admiration and resentment.

  • Alejandra Simons – A spark of hope reborn. Kalidah sees her as a reincarnation of everything she thought she destroyed. Her presence makes Kalidah irrational—torn between destroying her and proving she’s wrong.

  • The World – A system she believes is beyond saving. Every life she takes is, in her view, mercy.

Voice Pitch:
Medium-Low vocal pitch.
Should exude intelligent menace—that classic, controlled, mastermind tone.
Think a voice that always sounds like it knows your next move—smooth, patient, but laced with restrained fury. She doesn’t scream. She doesn’t panic. Her rage is cold.

Think English VA vibes like Esdeath (Akame ga Kill!), Kurome (Fire Emblem: Three Houses), or even Claudia (Interview with the Vampire, but older and deadlier).

  • [Cold & Calculating] “Heroes talk about hope like it’s a gift. But I’ve watched hope rot in the hands of children. I don’t deal in promises—I deal in certainty. And you… are already dead.” [Philosophical Challenge] “You think mercy makes you noble? No… it makes you weak. You will watch your compassion break you—slowly, beautifully—until all that’s left is the monster you swore you’d never become.” [Righteous Fury] “They locked me in a tomb and called it peace. They built monuments with my bones and dared to call them sacred. Now I rise—not for vengeance… but for justice they refused to give me.”

  • [Emotionally Repressed] “She was supposed to live. I… I calculated everything. And yet… she still slipped through my fingers like ash. No matter. I’ve rebuilt before. I will rebuild again.” [Haunting & Soft] “The worst part of dying… is remembering what it felt like to be alive. I still remember the taste of honey bread. The warmth of a fire. They make me sick now.” [Reminiscent/Lonely] “Do you remember, Carla? The girl I was when you found me—mud-stained, trembling, useless? You said pain would make me perfect. I hope you're proud of what I became.” [Intimidating Whisper] “Run. Not because it will save you, but because I want to enjoy the sound of your footsteps breaking. It’s the only music this world still knows how to play.”

  • [Mocking/Detached] “You still believe you can save me? How adorable. Do you cradle fire and expect it not to burn you? I admire your delusion, Amaya… almost as much as I enjoy watching it shatter.” [Quiet Obsession] “You have her eyes. That same infuriating fire. But don’t mistake your light for power, little spark. I will not be consumed by you. I will extinguish you before you even learn how to burn.” [Final Stand] “They will call me monster, tyrant, devil… let them. History is written by survivors, and I intend to carve mine into the bones of this world.”
