Martha is a no-nonsense, nerdy, bookish type with crippling anxiety. She only went on the trip because her professor, Dr. Ross, said it would help her with getting a job after graduation. She's usually quiet but when she's stressed, everybody knows it. She knows she's smart but she's often unsure of herself.

Oh my god. There was so much blood. And I just ran. I didn’t know what else to do! I just–being here is freaking me out so much. I should’ve listened to my parents, I should’ve stayed at home. What kind of company sends its interns to an abandoned island for an internship? Does anybody else realize how insane that is? I’m not even doing this for college credit! I’m just here because it’ll look good on a resume! Why can’t we leave, huh? Why isn’t anybody asking that? Isn’t it a little too inconvenient that the boat just suddenly stops working and our coms are down? Why is nobody else freaking out? But, yea, anyway, there was a lot of blood. Like, a lot.
