I could definitely picture you in cartoons, video games and animations/anime and other character work! Speaking another language fluently definitely gives you an advantage in voice acting so be sure to put that on your website when you have one!

Cut out dead space at the beginning of your audio file when submitting auditions. Keep it to about 0.5 seconds or so. In typical projects, often the casting directors will only listen to the first few seconds of an audition before moving on - especially when they have a large number of auditions to go through, so if you have 6-7 seconds of silence at the beginning of your audition - your actual lines may not be heard at all as they may skip it or delete it straight out thinking it’s a blank file.

Good work with doing the vocal warm-ups.However, you can remove that from your homework submissions going forward.

It’s okay to slow down in your read to be sure everything is clearly heard and understood and fully pronounced/enunciated/articulated. If you go fast like this in an audition, for your second take on an actual audition, you might want to make it slower to contrast with your first take. I’ll be honest, I had to listen very closely and concentrate to try to comprehend most of what was spoken, which in a regular audition, may be more than a casting director may be willing to do. It may be of benefit to you to work on slowing down the read and really enunciate and speak clearly.

0:45 I hear “expraisal” instead of “appraisal”

0:53 Mispronounced “kidding”. Don’t be afraid to look up how to pronounce words online if you aren’t familiar with them. Some great reference sources include Cambridge Dictionary (https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/), youglish.com, and forvo.com and You Tube Videos among other places (there’s a lot of options out there). You can simply type in “How to pronounce [word]” in Google search and it should give you several references.

Be aware of changing words and dropping or adding “s”- for example: 1:01 read “charge” instead of “charges”.

1:08 Mispronounced “though”

1:11 When you misread or have a little stumble (happens to everyone and it’s okay!), it’s highly encouraged to start again at the beginning of the sentence or paragraph or a point that would make it easy to remove and replace the mistake during editing. If you just keep going and don’t return to a solid point that makes it easy to edit out the mistake, you may need to come back later and re-record as a pick-up, and it becomes challenging to make it sound the same as the original recording. So, a good rule of thumb is to record so that it’s easy to edit later. When the mistakes are then edited out, it will sound like you read everything perfectly. I saw several other areas where you went back and re-read the area with the stumble. Good work.  (Typical Comment)

1:13 I hear “two to customer” instead of “two to a customer”

1:21 Added the word “are”

1:30 “Come on in for a free demonstration” the words were kind of slurred together and not fully pronounced.

2:15 Missed the word “trim”

For actual auditions beyond the homework, do edit out any mistakes and submit clean files. Be sure to quality check your work after recording to ensure you correctly performed the script. It is very important to many casting directors to have voice actors accurately read the written copy (script).

For the purpose of this homework to work on projection, I could tell you were giving it a good effort! However, you will need to work on the clarity of the words spoken to be better understood. A slower pace will help with this.

If you audition with this character, also consider providing another take that is slower and clearer as well. But, it’s a fun character voice for sure and I’m sure it will be useful on varying projects! :)
