A Court of Thorns and Roses - Audiobook
ThriftmanNG for Voice Actor - Father
A aging, wounded tone of voice to match the frail and struggling Father of the protagonist. Feyre’s father was once a wealthy and successful merchant, but when Feyre is a young child, the family discovers that their success is fraudulent. Feyre’s grandfather and great-grandfather had gotten themselves into serious debt, but they didn’t reap the consequences in their lifetimes. When the debt collectors were finally ready to settle the score, Feyre’s father suffered the punishment of generations of bad business. Crippled by the debt collectors, Feyre’s father spirals into depression, as he can no longer provide for his family as a father should. However, rather than work diligently to discover new ways to make money, he allows Feyre to bear the burden of providing for the family via hunting. This builds resentment in both Feyre and Nesta, who believe their father should have done more to step up for the family.
(wheezing) “We need hope as much as we need bread and water. Your mother thought the same…”
(tearfully) “I fought for my country and my liberty, my honour is assured. Since it is the will of God to separate us on Earth, I hope we'll meet again in heaven. Keep me in your prayers. Your loving father…. Always.
“Feyre… You were always too good for here, Feyre. Too good for us, too good for everyone. If you ever escape, ever convince them that you’ve paid the debt, don’t return. Don’t ever come back… You go somewhere new—and you make a name for yourself.”
Well done, Thrift. Your tone is bloody perfect. The father I never had 🥲 You’ve earned the part 👍
