Julia is a beaten-down, tired, but caring woman. She works her ass off and toils daily and does it for Luke and their kid Marin. She might come off as controlling and apathetic, but it comes from the trauma of how hard she works. She genuinely loves Luke, but it's exhausting dealing with him constantly not feeling well or not pulling his weight.
This role will continue in a series of flashbacks.

(in respond to luke saying he feels sick) Ugh! Of course you are! It’s always something.
(snapping, then regretful) It’s worse when you don’t even argue back. I’m sorry, I just— The Collectors came. They offered testing rights instead as alternative payment.
(tired, desperate.) I’ve heard it before, Luke. We need credits now. For us. For Marin. Take the job — please — but don’t get my hopes up unless it’s real.
