Class Session 5
BreaknJake for Role
Full details of homework is on Closing Credits
Excellent backstory/scene you have envisioned.
Be careful about developing patterns and rhythm while speaking as these start to jump out to listeners and can detract from the message.
Be sure to go back and quality check what you’ve recorded and check for any missed or changed words. This is important for auditions and gigs that you accurately read the script provided.
Continue working on enunciation and articulation to fully and clearly pronounce the words and the letters within them and at the end.
Really nicely read. To take it to the next level, think about how you feel about the words being spoken - what emotions are present? How is your audience responding as you speak these words? Are they also saddened? Are they being inspired by what you say to want to play the game and save the world (or whatever the objective of the game will be)? Picture the scene you’ve created and how the person or persons you are talking to are reacting. Make it real in your mind’s eye, and let yourself genuinely respond to the situation. This will help lift the words off the page. Make use of change-ups in emotion, inflection, pacing, volume, pitch, etc. Adding even more emotion into your read can really help draw listeners in and let them feel what you are feeling through emotions and opinions being portrayed. Remember that in a video game cut scene, your narration would be paired with images, so consider the timing of your read and visualize what might be shown on screen while you speak. Good use of humanisms like the character’s moment where he sighs before saying “They couldn’t have been more wrong...” These humanisms really add to the script and are part of what help us stand out from AI right now.
Keep up the great work!
