Bǫlverkr(Bawl-verker) is the antagonist, a god who perceives the world in a distorted and detached manner.  He possesses an awareness of the "real world" but views humanity as a form of entertainment.  Bolverkr's disdain for Gili stems from their perceived lack of "intrigue," highlighting his skewed perspective.
