Nice read!

It appears that the first paragraph of the script is missing.

Your audio sounds a little muffled. If you’re using a “sock” type pop filter on your microphone, try removing it and seeing if your audio is clearer. If you are using a USB or XLR microphone, be sure you are speaking directly into the input diaphragm of the microphone (or ideally just passed the mic at a slight offset to limit plosives) - usually the logo will face the front, but check with your exact model if so. Cardioid patterns will often deaden sound behind the input diaphragm and it’s easy to accidentally speak into the backside and thus have lower volume and clarity.

0:17 “Entrée” was read as “entry”. Be careful about changing the words in the script. :)

0:33 I hear “surprise” instead of “supplies”

0:47 read “restriction” instead of “restrictions”, or the “s” didn’t come through clearly if it was read as “restrictions”. Be aware of changing words and dropping or adding “s”. Be sure to clearly enunciate and articulate your words so they are fully pronounced and clearly understood. (Similar comment at 0:59 read “representative” instead of “representatives”)

0:49 To take things to the next level, ensure that any repeated words or similar patterns stay different by using change-ups and variation to keep things interesting.

1:04, 1:18 When you misread (happens to everyone and it’s okay!), it’s highly encouraged to start again at the beginning of the sentence or paragraph or a point that would make it easy to remove and replace the mistake during editing. If you just keep going and don’t return to a solid point that makes it easy to edit out the mistake, you may need to come back later and re-record, and it becomes challenging to make it sound the same as the original recording. So, a good rule of thumb is to record so that it’s easy to edit later.

1:08 I hear “deluct” instead of “deluxe”, take your time and slow down if needed. Really articulate and enunciate the words to ensure they are fully and clearly pronounced.

1:33 odd break/pacing/breath in “key ring magnifying glass… and garden hose” - may be worth another take if you hit an odd pacing/stride in your read

1:43 read “taking” instead of “asking”

For the purpose of this homework to work on projection, I felt that you did well with it, however, there may be room to do more with projection. Think about the scene of being in a gym with no microphone and you need your voice to be heard in every single corner of the room. Engage with your diaphragm and take in a big, deep breath to fill up your lungs so that you have the power to push your voice out.

I feel like you may have a bit of a lisp? That’s not a bad thing if so! It can be a very useful tool in your toolbox and if it’s your authentic “you” and your signature voice, that’s perfectly good! Your unique self can be an excellent character to bring to projects! Either way, I encourage you to continue to work on clearly enunciating and articulating the words and fully pronouncing them so they are clearly understood. Practicing with the cork like Burger showed in class to over articulate the words helps trains the muscles - even without it if you practice being very clear and over enunciate and over articulate, clear enunciation/articulation also should be a tool in your voice acting toolbox to use or not to use as you continue in your voice acting journey!

Keep up the good work!
