Crazy energy, I love it! It also sounds like a good recording space.

Unrelated to your delivery, though, I think you may have made an error with the recording because it can only be heard in the right ear. I'm not entirely versed in this aspect of audio engineering yet, but I think it has to do with picking stereo for the recording but your mic is actually mono. Or you accidentally panned the audio to the right ear.

Or it's something else, but I thought I'd bring it up so you don't unknowingly submit other auditions with this error!

I know I was sick over the weekend then did this at the end of quite a long day. I felt like I was fighting falling asleep during the entire time.

Great read!

Your volume is a little too low. Try increasing the gain - For normal talking try to have your peaks land between -18 dB and -6dB and your yelling/loud talking falls between -9 dB and -3 dB. Also, your audio is panned all the way to the right. Make sure it is “centered” and record and export in mono, not stereo. Stereo is only used with audio productions involving music and sound effects. Vocals only need mono.

For the purpose of this homework to work on projection, I felt you did an excellent job of working on this quality! The first part definitely was well projected. I feel like by the second half you started going into a more throaty-yelling voice, though. Be sure your projected voice is coming from your diaphragm and not your throat/lungs/chest.

I did notice you included some gravel/texture in your voice. This is a useful tool in voice acting! Just be careful not to hurt your voice/vocal chords and if you go for gravelly/textured characters that have a lot of lines be sure to not push yourself too hard or too long to damage your voice - it can be difficult to sustain for long periods (though practice and strengthening exercises to increase your stamina and proper technique will definitely help!). You want to stay in a range that is comfortable for you and stop if you start feeling pain. There are vocal coaches who specialize in yelling/textured voices such as those used in video games, etc. who can help you to increase your skill and performance strategy if this is something you’re interested in pursuing.

0:49, 1:43 When you misread (happens to everyone and it’s okay!), it’s highly encouraged to start again at the beginning of the sentence or paragraph or a point that would make it easy to remove and replace the mistake during editing. If you just keep going and don’t return to a solid point that makes it easy to edit out the mistake, you may need to come back later and re-record, and it becomes challenging to make it sound the same as the original recording. So, a good rule of thumb is to record so that it’s easy to edit later.

1:23 To take things to the next level, ensure that any repeated words or similar patterns stay different by using change-ups and variation to keep things interesting.

Nice work overall! The biggest thing is to adjust your gain and we look forward to hearing what you bring to the homeworks going forward!
