Overall nice read!

Your volume is a little low. Try increasing the gain - For normal talking try to have your peaks land between -18 dB and -6dB and your yelling/loud talking falls between -9 dB and -3 dB.

0:02 read “values” instead of “value” - be aware of changing words and dropping or adding “s”. (Also 0:42 “payment” instead of “payments”, 2:01 “trims” instead of “trim”)

0:15 “money back guaranteed and free installation” was kind of run together and not fully pronounced. Be sure to go slow enough where you can clearly enunciate and fully pronounce all of the words rather than just trying to get through the whole thing.

0:35 “Entrée” was read as “entry”. Be careful about changing the words in the script. :)

0:36 I feel like the word “hidden” could have been pronounced more clearly with better articulation.

0:49, 1:36, 2:05 When you misread (happens to everyone and it’s okay!), it’s highly encouraged to start again at the beginning of the sentence or paragraph or a point that would make it easy to remove and replace the mistake during editing. If you just keep going and don’t return to a solid point that makes it easy to edit out the mistake, you may need to come back later and re-record, and it becomes challenging to make it sound the same as the original recording. So, a good rule of thumb is to record so that it’s easy to edit later.

1:06 To take things to the next level, ensure that any repeated words or similar patterns stay different by using change-ups and variation to keep things interesting.

1:37, 2:03 read “purchase” instead of “purchases” - minor word change

For the purpose of this homework to work on projection, there was room for improvement as this felt like it was more of a normal voiceover speaking level. Think about the scene of being in a gym with no microphone and you need your voice to be heard in every single corner of the room. Or like a commanding character in a military scene yelling at the troops. Engage with your diaphragm and take in a big, deep breath to fill up your lungs so that you have the power to push your voice out.

The read did feel a little choppy in places. It’s okay to practice the read before recording - in fact, practice while recording. Sometimes our first take is the best one and if we didn’t record it we wouldn’t be able to use it. If you record a couple/few takes you can then go back and choose the best take to submit. Reading it at least twice or more will also help to increase your confidence in your read and smooth it out.

I also encourage you to continue practicing your SOVT exercises and working on your vocal stamina. Be sure to also work on clearly enunciating and articulating the words and fully pronouncing them so they are clearly understood. Practicing with the cork like Burger showed in class to over articulate the words helps trains the muscles - even without it if you practice being very clear and over enunciate and over articulate, it becomes a tool in your voice acting toolbox to use or not to use as you continue in your voice acting journey!

Nice work!
