Class Session 1
Cam-on-the-Mic for Role
Full details of homework is on Closing Credits
You’ve got a clear, pleasant voice, and I think once you relax into the read more, your natural personality will really shine through. I look forward to seeing how you evolve through class.Take one had great audio. With take 2 the volume changed. Make sure you're talking into your mic.
Thank you for the kind comments and the fair criticism. I admit, I changed my set up in the second read. I think now that it's more important to have a consistent sound than an optimal set up. Lesson learned!
Nice job! First thing I notice is that we're lacking a bit in projection. Remember the scenario that you are in a gymnasium without a microphone and you need the whole entire gym to hear you. Take a big, deep breath using your diaphragm and really push that air out and let your voice travel. This doesn't mean you have to scream or strain your throat, but you should feel it in your chest using your chest voice and abdomen. Another thing I noticed starting out in the beginning is you have a static tone going on where there isn't much changes going on in your voice, but as you continued through you started to add a bit more energy and emphasis on words which was nice. Remember to start off strong so that you can capture the audience's attention right away and then you want to continue keeping their attention throughout which is where playing and adding dynamics comes into play. I could hear some hesitation going on in your voice as if you were unsure of what you were reading. As an actor, you want to come across that you know exactly what you're going to say because you are this character, so to help with this try to rehearse and read over the script a few times before recording so that you have more confidence in what to say. Also the more you audition and read aloud or practice cold reading, the easier it'll get to read ahead. Keep up the good work!
