Aoi is established as our main character's best friend (Tsune Tachibana). It is made clear through interactions that Aoi is in love with Tsune, but with context clues. We quickly find out Aoi’s "ailment reversal" was to be a man. Making him transgender. Tsune still adresses him as “Aoi chan” – signifying that Tsune has not yet accepted his change. He takes this personally, visibly showing discomfort and shame about the label. Despite this he sticks with Tsune, wanting to be seen as her hero. Despite being an INFP personality type, he can be very straightforward and confrontational when necessary. He is unapologetically himself, and will not be taken advantage of. He's extremely emotionally intelligent, is very cooperative and easy to work with.
