Class Session 1
BreaknJake for Role
Full details of homework is on Closing Credits
I like how you emphasized certain buzzwords near the end of the script! Voice could be a bit louder.
Thank you Jenny :)
Nice read!
0:41 “Entrée” was read as “entry”. Be careful about changing the words in the script. :)
0:53 “limited” was kind of slurred and not clearly spoken
1:20 To take things to the next level, ensure that any repeated words or similar patterns stay different by using change-ups and variation to keep things interesting.
1:22 missed “a” in “and a free consultation”
1:03 At around the one minute mark it seems like your gain/volume got louder than it was at the beginning.
1:52 When you misread (happens to everyone and it’s okay!), it’s highly encouraged to start again at the beginning of the sentence or paragraph or a point that would make it easy to remove and replace the mistake during editing. If you just keep going and don’t return to a solid point that makes it easy to edit out the mistake, you may need to come back later and re-record, and it becomes challenging to make it sound the same as the original recording. So, a good rule of thumb is to record so that it’s easy to edit later.
2:14 “garden hose” was kind of slurred and not clearly spoken
It’s great that you took your time going through the script at a pace you felt comfortable with. As you progress on your voice acting journey, you’ll want to reduce the longer pauses when they are unnecessary to help the script flow smoother through the entire spot to keep it from feeling choppy. Continue to practice clearly enunciating and fully pronounce all of the words - reading out loud and focusing on articulation will really help build strong habits for voice acting; the more you do it the easier it will become.
For the purpose of this homework to work on projection, I felt that you did well with it, however, there may be room to do more with projection. When your volume got louder it seems like your projection decreased to a degree. Think about the scene of being in a gym with no microphone and you need your voice to be heard in every single corner of the room. Engage with your diaphragm and take in a big, deep breath to fill up your lungs so that you have the power to push your voice out.
Good work overall!
Thank you so much for your input Melody! I did notice the entree/entry thing after submitting my homework and yeah the increased volume thing I think I ended up closer to the mic towards the end of the recording but noticed that too, everything thing else you brought up was total missights on my end and I greatly appreciate your feedback so to that I can correct and do better going forward!
