I like the variation in inflection in your first few takes! I think you could be even louder, if your space allows it. Really try to belt it out haha.

Good start!

Don’t be afraid to read through the script a few times out loud and record it. Sometimes your first take is the best, and sometimes we improve after reading it a couple/few more times. Voice actors will often do several takes of a script and then send in the best one. Or, often a couple of takes will be provided on voice acting gigs to give the project engineer’s options to work with. Have confidence in your read - people want to hear what you have to say and you’re the “expert” on the copy/script. :)

Several of your words were slurred and not fully, clearly pronounced. (For example, 0:47 September, 1:09 required, 1:10 apply, 2:00 combination, 2:06 leather) Continue to practice reading out loud and focusing on enunciation and articulation - the more you do it the easier it will become.

0:16, 0:51. 1:23, 1:27, 1:48  When you misread (happens to everyone and it’s okay!), it’s highly encouraged to start again at the beginning of the sentence or paragraph or a point that would make it easy to remove and replace the mistake during editing. If you just keep going and don’t return to a solid point that makes it easy to edit out the mistake, you may need to come back later and re-record, and it becomes challenging to make it sound the same as the original recording. So, a good rule of thumb is to record so that it’s easy to edit later. I noticed a couple of places where you went back and re-recorded the mistakes at a good point - keep doing this and it will pay off. :)

1:12 For repeated words, look for ways to say the words differently - “change-up” to keep it interesting.

1:50 I heard “gif” rather than “gift”. Be sure to fully pronounce your words to be clearly understood.

For the purpose of this homework to work on projection, I feel like there is some room for improvement. I felt that parts of it were well projected - you started out fairly strong, but the energy fell some as you continued through the script and it was not projected all of the way through the read consistently. It is important to be able to carry the same energy all the way through a script at times or to maintain a certain character/style all the way through a series for example. Not all scripts may call for this, but when it is, this is an important skill/ability to keep in mind. Stamina.

Be sure to come back and listen to this homework at the end of the class - I am confident you will see growth and improvement in your skills and abilities by the end of the six weeks! :D Keep up the good work!
